Salps
Salps are a variety of tunicate, a group of animals that also includes sea squirts and are, surprisingly, evolutionarily related to vertebrates. They are filter feeders a few centimetres long that are either solitary or live in chains that can be hundreds of salps long.
Until now, scientists thought that although they were very efficient at filter feeding using a mucous ‘net’ type structure, they could only catch food that was larger than the holes of the net – a fairly sensible assumption to make if you think about things like fishing nets and sieves. But Kelly Sutherland and her colleagues used lab experiments where they offered salps specifically sized polystyrene balls of 0.5 to 3 micrometers in diameter and showed that even the smallest particles were picked up at a higher rate than expected.
Betty and veronica again tried petting them today. The brown one was so scared. Sort of reminds of choc choc too but with shorter ears. Only 2 years old and already abandoned by their owner. Before they came to vrra they were locked outside, guess thats how they lost their trust.
This bunny lools like choc choc but with loop ears. Big friendly bunny. Lost its name tag. Will check next week for his/her name

i was just reading about my friend from elementary school. He got into a major that was really competitive only accept 30 people out of 100. I was reading up on why he wanted to be pursue dietetics. He wanted to be a dietician ever since grade 10, and he worked really hard to get into ubc and then into this program. He wrote blogs and looked for different oppurtunities to make his application stand out. I was really happy to hear that news. But that also made me think about my long term goals, and what I’m doing to get there, ultimately why. It seems to me that in high school i just wanted to get into ubc and go into med. After my first year, i aborted my plan to pursue med. Ever since i’ve been drifting and doubting myself on everything. My friend’s post and many recent events really slapped me in the face. Sudden realization that I can’t continue drifting, even though 2nd year is way better than 1st. I have to push for doing everytask to the best of my ability. More importantly dedicate myself to one goal (vetmed admission in ucal/usask preferably usask) and watch it come true. Ready.set.go.
